This is about activated sludge flocculation method which is one of various activated sludge methods in wastewater treatment process. Anaerobic-aerobic method is a wastewater treatment method whose main purpose is to remove phosphorus from wastewater, and a method improved from conventional activated sludge process. As phosphorus removal method, there is anaerobic-aerobic method which is based on biological treatment though, this activated sludge flocculation method can be said as a chemical treatment. |■ About Activated sludge flocculation method|
This is a method to remove phosphorus by adding flocculant into reaction tank of conventional activated sludge process. Flocculant is added to activated sludge containing phosphorus in reaction tanks and flocculation is took place. The wastewater is sent to final settling tank and flocculated activated sludge is settled down and sedimented. Clarified water in the final settling tank is discharged after passing through disinfection apparatus and some of settled activated sludge is returned to reaction tank as returned sludge, then remained stuffs are sent to sludge thickening tank as waste sludge.This method improves sedimentation ratio of activated sludge while phosphorus is removed and can be done additionally in existing wastewater treatment facilities for conventional activated sludge method, therefore, it is now used widely.

Water in the sludge thickened in the sludge thickener tank are removed at dehydration process to a certain degree.
