There are a lot of kinds of dehydrator for sludge arises from wastewater treatment plants. Among them, rotary press filter dehydrates sludge with two disc-shaped filtering devices/screens by putting sludge between them and rotating.

■ Rotary press filter 


Rotary press filter puts sludge between two filtering devices/screens and convey it by rotating with low speed. The filtering devices/screens are made by metal discs and lined up vertically toward moving direction by facing each other. Sludge is squeezed and dehydrated while it is conveyed to outlet direction by the rotational force and pressure of injection. Because metal discs which rotate by holding sludge between them are screens for filtering,filtering area is large and sludge cake become thin, therefore, size of the apparatus per amount of feeding materials becomes smaller compared with other dehydrators.
Since screens are made by metal, there is no clogging, amount of flashing water can be small, and operation/maintenance are easy because number of component parts is small.
Also, it is fully sealed and no odor leaks to outside. This rotary press filter is originally developed outside of Japan. Polymer flocculation is use in conditioning before the dehydration.

■ Sludge drying

 

Water in the sludge thickened in the sludge thickener tank are removed at dehydration process to a certain degree.
However, moisture content is normally more than 80% and the sludge still has adhesiveness and stickiness. Also, latter processes are not easy because of influence of flocculants. Our drying apparatus of KENKI DRYER with international patented technology can surely dry any sticky, adhesive and viscus sludge, and also materials in liquid state like slurry, without clogging inside of the dryer. Also, because of its simple structure, its price is low and apparatus cost of the dryer can be retrieved by reducing industrial waste disposal cost within 3 years. Dried materials can be recycled as fuel, bacterial fertilizer, soil conditioner, etc. since component of the material is hardly changed because of its low-temperature drying method.
It can be applied to a system with pyrolysis apparatus as well.
