We started testing process for wood chips dryer of our new product. Wood chip having high moisture contents is used for the tests and each measurement are done based on test data tables. The contents of the test are measurement of moisture content before and after drying, and in addition to it, measurements of electric motors, electric current value of blower, temperature of each parts, amount of drainage, amount of waste water from exhaust blower, and so on. After tests are done with a setting for a specific drying environment, the dryer is taken to pieces and internal conditions are checked. Clogging, condition of dust, etc. inside the dryer are checked in detail. After analyzing the results of these measurements and condition checks, another test is performed with a different pattern by changing the setting of the dryer. This process is repeated many times over, then the best drying setting for the material can be found.
In the wood chips dryer of our new product this time, screw of main body which is the most important part of the heating and drying components has been developed. The part is shown in (2) in the diagram below as a part for agitation and drying. Materials are agitated, heated and conveyed as the screw rotates. For drying of wood chip, the wood chip need to be avoided being crashed as much as possible. When chip is crushed into small pieces, heat can be transmitted to inner part of them, however, powder dust is easily generated as well. In case wood chip turned into powder dust, it often causes problems in post-process and incur extra cost for subsidiary facilities such as dust collector. The screw blades developed this time is thought out to predict crashing the materials to be dried and agitate them enough at the same time. Drying efficiency becomes better by agitating well. One of the advantages of this screw blade is that it can agitate materials without crashing. In the tests up until now, the target values are nearly achieved and no problem has been found.
Whole structure of the dryer is the same as KENKI DRYER of our previous patented product. However, the material supplying mechanism are going to be modified in case of wood chip drying since the supplying device at the inlet of the dryer crashes the wood chip to some degree, and the modification will make the wood chip to be crashed at least as possible and the inlet to be hardly clogged.
