This waste water treatment process doesn’t need the first clarifier which is used in conventional activated sludge process.
By increasing capacity of reaction tank and aeration tank to two to three times larger than ones used in conventional activated sludge process, this waste water treatment process aims to reduce amount of excess sludge generated. This process is said to be economically advantageous for small scale sewage facilities. Main difference of this process compared with others is that processing time in reaction tank is extended to restrain generation of excess sludge. However, since operation time of air blower becomes longer to extend processing time in aeration tank, electricity charge becomes considerably higher compared with conventional activated sludge process. Also, wide area is necessary to perform two to three times more aeration than conventional activated sludge process. Processing time is longer and amount of reduced excess sludge is not so much actually. Perhaps, it cannot be said as the most effective waste water treatment process.
