The filtering devices configured by several stainless discs are set upper and lower, and sludge is dehydrated while it is conveyed as the filtering device rotates.
The upper and lower filtering devices are set to make their interval narrower as it moves forward. By setting them with narrower interval, sludge is squeezed and dehydrated.
Filtering part is combination of moving disc and fixed disc and made to prevent sludge clogging. Therefore, although automatic flashing device are attached, amount of flashing water can be kept small.
In dehydration with this type of apparatus, sludge need to be turned into flocs by flocculation as much as possible during conditioning process since sludge flows out from gaps between moving disc and fixed disc together with water (filtrate) if it is not in flocs shapes.
Mechanism of multi disc dehydrator is to rotate filtering devices configured by combination of moving disc and fixed disc and to filter water from the gaps between the devices. Sludge need to be turned into flocs as much as possible though, this can be said as low maintenance and energy saving type of dehydrator which does not need power supply for vacuuming, pressing, etc.
Water in the sludge thickened in the sludge thickener tank are removed at dehydration process to a certain degree.
However, moisture content is normally more than 80% and the sludge still has adhesiveness and stickiness. Also, latter processes are not easy because of influence of flocculants.
